Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore is a constituent institution of Manipal University.
Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore was started in 1955, utilizing the clinical facilities of the Government Wenlock Hospital and Government Lady Goschen Hospital. In 1961, the pre-clinical section was started in Mangalore.
The Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore became an independent unit in 1977. Apart from the two Government hospitals, there is a teaching hospital attached to the College viz., the KMC Hospital, Attavar, established in 1992 with a bed strength of 500.The infrastructural facilities are comparable to international standards with seven big air-conditioned lecture halls fitted with modern audio-visual teaching aids including multi-media projectors and a modern, fully air-conditioned library with a seating capacity of about 500, and with internet facility. The library has over 10,000 books and subscribes to more than 350 journals annually.
Chinese Academy Medical Sciences, China
Founded in 1956, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) is the only state-level academic center for medical sciences in China and a multidiscipline medical research institution. As the CAMS Institute of Clinical Medicine, the hospital has always attached great importance to scientific research. In the past 20 years, over 20 research projects received National Science and Technology Progress Awards, and 95 research projects receive ministry level or provincial awards. Within recent 5 years, the hospital conducted over 120 research projects at state level and over 130 projects at a ministry/ provincial level, including 84 projects funded by the NSCF (National Natural Science Foundation of China). Over 4000 research papers published in major Chinese or foreign medical journals within recent years.
University of Malaya Library, Malaysia
The University of Malaya Library was established in 1959 and has a total collection of more than a million titles up to date. UM Library consists of a Central Library which provides library facilities for the whole campus and a network of branch and special libraries to meet the specific and special needs of some faculties.
The collection comprises of books, journals, conference proceedings, audio video, microform, theses and dissertations. UML also offers access to electronic resources such as e-journals, databases, citation indexes, and bibliographic management software. The library is headed by the Chief Librarian, with a complement of professional librarians, support and technical staff.
