SMi EVENT – 4th annual Allergies Conference

SMi is proud to present its 4th annual Allergies conference which returns to London in July 2017 to reflect on the ongoing issues and latest developments in this field.

Allergies

This year’s event will bring together industry leaders to discuss the latest challenges and changes in the fields of allergen immunotherapy. We will explore novel approaches to treatment, biomarkers and targeted treatments. The challenges to device development and drug delivery will be identified to deepen delegates understanding of the problems relating to these diseases, and discuss the topic of standardisation.

As the prevalence of allergic diseases has increased so has diagnostic technology. Additionally, cutting edge developments in targeted drugs and preventative measures are currently revolutionising the ways in which pharmaceutical and biotech companies are addressing allergies.

Presentations and selected case studies from industry experts on paediatric allergies and immunotherapy, novel approaches to treatment, key decision makers in these fields and unique networking opportunities will make this an event a not to miss opportunity.

SMi EVENT – 4th annual Immunogenicity

SMi is thrilled to present the return of its 4th annual Immunogenicity conference and exhibition, taking place in London on the 12th – 13th June 2017.

immuno

The immunogenicity market has seen considerable progression over recent years, with innovative developments apparent in predicting and controlling immunogenicity. However the industry is still subject to complex hurdles and challenges.

This year’s conference will provide attendees with a thorough understanding of the continued need for harmonisation across risk assessments and data reporting, as well as guidance for clinical trial design. Speakers will offer deep exploration of the regulations surrounding immunogenicity testing, from the UK, Europe, and USA, giving exclusive opportunity for discussion and debate with key regulatory experts. With focus on delivering true value for all delegates in attendance, Immunogenicity 2017 will identify and solve key challenges for industry experts. Insight into aggregations, next generation biologics, novel assays, humanisation of bio-therapeutics, and improvements to accurate risk assessment will be complemented by high level case studies.

At SMi’s 4th annual Immunogenicity conference, industry, regulatory and academic experts will gather to spark debate and progress on the causes of immunogenicity, predicting and preventing its effects, and its associated issues. Immunogenicity 2017 will offer unparalleled networking opportunities, deep insight into industry issues, and spotlight sessions on innovations and emerging technologies for immunogenicity.

New Issue :: Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering 4, Issue 4

NBE is the official journal of the Institute of Complex Medical Engineering (ICME). The journal promotes the best interdisciplinary research in neuroscience and biomedical engineering. NBE welcomes contributions in any domain of neural and biomedical engineering ranging in content from practical/clinical applications through experimental science, technological developments to quantitative and/or statistical methodology discussions. NBE publishes the following article types: original articles, research reviews, and book reviews.
The goal of this journal is to establish a new forum for this interdisciplinary field so that neuroscientists and biomedical engineers can publish their research works in one periodical. NBE is devoted to bridge the gap between Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering, and to foster the mutual understanding in both fields.

Editor’s Choice – “Solid State Concerns During Drug Discovery and Development: Thermodynamic and Kinetic Aspects of Crystal Polymorphism and the Special Cases of Concomitant Polymorphs, Co-Crystals and Glasses”

Journal: Current Drug Discovery Technologies

Author(s): Daniel P. Otto, Melgardt M. De Villiers

Graphical Abstract:

Abstract:

During drug discovery and development the thermodynamics and kinetics of crystal form transitions must be studied and the fundamental properties of polymorphs must be identified. However, despite the accumulation of knowledge and experimental evidence that support the understanding of crystallization, its predictability still presents significant challenges. With the continuous development of new drug delivery technologies, even more complex situations arise such as difficult cases of polymorph selection, co-crystallization of different molecules, and manipulation of the crystallization environment for example amorphous solids. This review covers some fundamental thermodynamics and kinetics of simple system, before the discussions consider at these special cases and how the manipulation of thermodynamic and kinetic processes has increased our knowledge, understanding and application of crystallization science during the drug development process.
