The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is one of the original three comprehensive cancer centers in the United States. It is both a degree-granting academic institution, and a cancer treatment and research center located at the Texas Medical Center in Houston. MD Anderson is widely regarded as one of the foremost cancer centers in the US. It is one of the few hospitals in the US affiliated with two major research based medical schools: The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, and Baylor College of Medicine.
Health Sciences Library of the University of Coimbra, Portugal
The Health Sciences Library (HSL) is a unit of cultural outreach and support for scientific and pedagogical training at the University of Coimbra (UC). It was “born” in 2009 as a result of the merging of the libraries of Medicine and Pharmacy with the aim of implementing the strategy of rationalizing the spaces and the bibliographic resources at the University of Coimbra. The HSL’s mission is to provide information support to the University of Coimbra, mainly to the teachers and students of the Faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy. Through the cooperation with other health libraries contributes to satisfy the information needs of the national scientific community.
Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Catholic University of Portugal), Portugal
The Catholic University of Portugal, also referred to as Católica or UCP for short, is the only concordatary university (non-state-run university with concordatary status) of the Catholic Church, in Portugal. Although it is just one university, UCP is organized as a university system, made up of four major regional centres: Lisbon (the headquarters), Beiras (Caldas da Rainha and Viseu), Braga, and Porto. These include 18 faculties, schools and institutes, which are the basic education and research units. Besides the four regional centres in Portugal, UCP also has the University of Saint Joseph in Macau as its affiliate.
