It is my honor and pleasure to write this foreword for Dr. Deepak Gupta’s book on osteomyelitis of the jaw bones. It takes a lot of time to make a decision to write a text book for clinicians and it takes even more efforts and energy to finish it.

The topic of this text book is well chosen and well considered and contributes to the dental and medical profession. Even in the era of abundant use of antibiotics, osteomyelitis is still an issue, which can lead to debilitating and disfiguring lesions in the maxillofacial region, as early diagnosis is a key. With patients and doctors being more mobile and moving to different parts of the world, it is important now that the doctors recognize the pathology, which they may have never seen in their home country.

The information and expert material in this book are paramount for dental clinicians as this manuscript contains crucial information about the pathology, aetiology and the therapy or treatment approach for patients with osteomyelitis lesions. Information about which diagnostic imaging modalities can and should be used is also nicely illustrated and backed up with qualitative literature.
