Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SDUTCM) is a university based in Jinan City, Shandong Province, China. It was established on October 16, 1958 as the Shandong Traditional Chinese Medicine College. In 1978, the college became a national college for Traditional Chinese Medicine College. In 1981, the college was classified as a higher education institution in the province. In 1996, the university restructured into a public university and became officially as the Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.


It is currently the only independently established medical university in Shandong Province, and rated excellent in the national undergraduate education evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Education. It is one of the first “five preeminent featured universities” approved by Shandong provincial government. The university covers a total area of 122 hectares, with a building area of 545,000 square meters and a collection of 1,100,000 paper books in the library. The university includes 13 colleges, 3 directly-affiliated hospitals, 11 indirectly-affiliated hospitals, 22 teaching hospitals and over 50 clinical teaching bases. It has 21 undergraduate programs, and offers doctoral degrees of 15 specialties in 3 top disciplines and master’s degrees of 44 specialties in 8 top disciplines. It has an enrollment of over 20,000 students, including over 18,100 undergraduates, over 2,600 postgraduates and over 200 students from foreign countries, Hong Kong and Macaw. It has excellent teaching and practice conditions, complete living facilities. It has leaped into the front ranks of TCM universities in mainland China in the fields of undergraduate and postgraduate education, development of key disciplines, scientific research project and its achievement level.
